Abstract

The article deals with the results of surveys among young people aged 16 to 29 years, which was conducted in Saint-Petersburg and Leningrad region. Among the various aspects of social well-being, there were questions that reflected the subjective perception of social exclusion of young people. The data shows that although economic factors affect the social exclusion, the process of social exclusion of young people is more versatile and is determined by social deprivation. From the authors’ point of view, one of the mechanisms of social inclusion could be the development of social support networks including governmental institutions which, according to the data, experience a very low level of youth’ trust.
